Currently In Utah And Loving It

Yes we are all here safe and sound, and yes like always it was an interesting journey.

The packers came last Monday. Most of the time when movers come it is very stressful, and that is mostly because you are trying to keep your children entertained and out of every ones way. My husband however, was nice enough to take the kids out on that day. They went to the park, then to play mini golf, and lastly to watch the Cinderella movie. The best part was he thought I was doing him a favor by dealing with the movers (because he doesn't like to do that at all), but in reality he was doing me a favor. It's awesome when things work out like that.

The loaders came the next day, which was last Tuesday, on that day we just spent most of the day in the backyard kicking a Hello Kitty ball around. Both the packers and loaders moved pretty fast, and were done around 3pm on both days. Tuesday was sunny for most of the day, until about 2pm, when it started to hail like crazy. Yes it was hailing while the movers were there. Those poor guys.

Wednesday was our final inspection on our military house, and right after that was taken care of, we hit the road. Our goal for that day was to make it as far as Twin Falls, ID. We thought it was only going to be a nine hour drive The drive turned out to be more like eleven. That may have been because of the snow we hit in the mountains. We got to the hotel around 9pm, and yes we still went to the pool. We kind of had to, we promised the kids, and considering that they had put up with that drive with patience and grace, keeping our promise was no big deal. Yes before you ask the cats came too. Both of them were in my mini van, with the younger kids while the older boys were in my husband's car. Link our oldest cat was a big cry baby for almost the whole trip (he hates cat carriers), and Zazzles was just chilling.

Thursday we made it to Utah. I wanted to shout with joy when we crossed the state border, but my kids were asleep in the car at the time. I resorted to telling them with an enthused voice when they woke up. About 30 mins before we reached our final destination, which was the house we were going to rent, I get a call from the company that owns the house, saying the rent and deposit checks never came in. Great... Yes and we had sent them over a week before... Great... and they were casher's checks... Great. So we had to go and get money orders before we could move it. Yes something always has to go wrong, that's just life. You fix it, you learn from it, and you move on.

Once we finally payed for and made it to the house, it was wonderful. It was what we wanted and more. It's the perfect size and has everything we need. Every window has a view of snow caped mountains, and every room has a walk-in closet. The best part is that we have enough room for a school room.

While waiting for our stuff to arrive, we explored the area a bit. We when to the aquarium and Ikea. We checked out the mall and drove around just to see what they had here. There's a lot to do here, and as far as stores go, they have almost everything. Yes big improvement from Bremerton, WA.

Our stuff arrived on Monday (two days ago). They unloaded the truck and had everything put in the correct room in only three and a half hours. That's super fast, that fastest I've ever seen it done.

The good news is, we are almost done unpacking. We have a few boxes just setting round. The great news is that this house looks even better with our stuff in it.

I want to thank everyone who has prayed for our family during all of this. I'm so grateful for every ones kind words and prayers.

Nerdy Nummies and cat party

Hey everyone, I'm just writing to catch everyone up.

The school work is back on full swing since last Monday. We took two weeks off so we could go to Disney. I just ended up moving spring break, so now when spring break does come around we won't be taking any time off. It's really no big deal, I don't think the kids will even notice the fact that everyone else is off of school. Our school year is also coming close to ending. I know already. The boys have finished their health books, and history and science are soon to follow. If the school year ends to soon, I'll just go and buy some more work books, to keep them busy, and to keep everything fresh in their heads. I've had to do this all of the other years. Finishing early will also give us more time to work on the subjects we have a bit harder time with. Zachary and Nathaniel can always use more partice with reading and writing, and Darien needs to work on his study stills in history and science. This is why homeschooling works so well if done right, because it's personalized education, but if you can't homeschool you can still get yourself involved with your child's education. :)

I've found something awesome on You Tube! It's called Nerdy Nummies. Rosanna, this wonderful nerdy girl who loved to bake and play video games, decided to put those two things together, and now every Tuesdays she comes up with something wonderful. I LOVE HER VIDEOS! She's goofy and makes cute sound effects, and her creations make me smile. So you really need to check out her videos. My favorites are the Portal Cake, the Chess Cake, and the Harry Potter Cauldron Cake Pop. If you don't have enough time to check out her channel then you still need to at lest check out those three videos, because I SAID SO! :)

Okay last thing... This may put us into the crazy homeschool family category... I'm not sure, but here goes... We had a birthday party for the cats last week on Friday. :) Are we nuts? Are we crazy homeschooling cat people? Maybe... We have two cats Link and Lady. Link we got as a kitten from an ad in the paper, back when we lived in San Diego. Link's birthday really is in March, we're just not sure of the date. Lady is a rescue from the local shelter, we got her last June. We have no idea when her birthday is, but we were told that she was 3 years old when we adopted her. So just to make things fun (because we hadn't had cake in a while) (like 3 weeks), we threw the cats a birthday party. Link turned 5 and Lady turned 4 (or so we say). We got them catnip mice and kitty treats and we ate cake in-front of them. It's okay they really didn't want any, believe me I tried to get them to eat some. :)  I just think they are such awesome cats, and they make me so happy, and I just wanted to honer them, and I wanted to eat cake, and I have no shame mentioning that. :)

There was a time not too long ago, when I would have not considered myself a cat person. Sure I liked cats a little, but I didn't really have one growing up, and I didn't see myself ever owning one, but about 2 years ago, my son Darien started asking for one. He must have been talking to some of his friends at school, his friends that had cats. He really like the idea, and when he asked, I then brought it up with Jeremy. We decided, that if he showed his responsibility with Samson (our dog), that we could get him a cat. About 2 weeks later we had decided it was time, and Darien was ready, and we started looking. We found an add for free kittens, there were 6 of them 2 boys and 4 girls, so we called and went. It was mother's day. The Mom cat was calico, and the kittens were all different colors. I asked Darien if he wanted a boy or girl, and of course he said boy, and then from the 2 boys he picked out our wonderful cat Link. He's a beautiful white and Orange Tabby. We picked out his name in the car, Link is named after our (the kids and mine), favorite video game character. In the video game Link is the Hero of time. Link was such a sweet kitten, he loved to sleep with me, all curled up by my neck. I started to fall in-love with him. Yup and it happened, I became a cat person. His is still a wonderful cat, and I love him dearly, we have now had him for 2 years, and I have loved every minute of it. He is great with Samson and his new sister Midna (who was adopted in August). He has always been good with the kids, if he needs time away from them, then he just leaves the room.

I wanted to write about him, because I am thankful for him. When we were looking for a cat, we asked God to send us a wonderful cat, and He did.

lots to say

Hey everyone, yup it's only 2 days before my due date, and I feel like I'm going nuts. Tomorrow should be my last appointment. So any day now...

We also finally got a closing date for our new house. We will be moving on the 26th of February. Yay! So now it's time for packing... Boo!...

I am so ready though, we really need some more space. So I have 2 very big things to look forward to, and with any luck one of those things should be here this week. I just wish I had a actual date on that one.

The boys had yesterday, and today off of school (for no real reason), and after coming off of a weekend, they had no idea what to do with that extra time. Whenever this happens, they always end up doing things they shouldn't. Like fighting, and getting into stuff, and being way to loud. All of this happened yesterday, so what did I do? I took away the video games. Ha ha ha...

This was of course horrible for them, because they love video games, and because they just got a new one Spongebob Truth Or Square...

They are spending today making up for it, and it has been a wonderful day. We got them the new video game because they beat Shrek 2, from start to finish. This dates back to a few months ago, when they kept seeing commercials for new games, and kept asking for them. Of course we were like "no way". We explained to them that they already have enough games, and they need to play the ones that they had first. Then we made a deal with them. We would buy them a new game when they finished one that they already had, and they had to do it all on their own. So they did, it took them a few months, but after practice and such, they were able to master Shrek...

Oh and speaking of the kids... I have been looking into homeschooling starting next year...

My whole reason for this is mainly because I really don't like what they are picking up from school. I have been hearing phrases like... "Lier lier pants on fire"... "I'm not your friend anymore"... "If you do this I'll be your best friend"... "I'm going to tell on you"... "I don't like you"... Yes the list can go on, and this is all being picked up from school, and all of those bratty kids...

Another problem is Darien's lack of effort in his school work. He is only doing what is needed to get by, and nowhere near his best. Also another reason would be what they are going to teach my kids in years to come. Let just face it, the public school system is not getting any better, so I should do something now, before my kids get brain washed...

On other news, my Cat Link has been acting very needy lately...

He is for the most part he is a keep to himself kind of cat, with the occasional need for love. This past week however he has been following me everywhere. Yes even in the bathroom (not cool), he has been wanting lots of love and attention. Does he know that soon I won't be able to give it to him? Maybe? So he's living it up now. Okay whatever.
